Some of the members of the Senior Ballet Class

My dance studio is now situated on Burton Road in Carlton a subburb of Nottingham England. The dance school has finally found its home at these custom built studios. The two studios are spacious, bright and welcoming.

We have occupied these premises since September 2003, prior to that the school operated out of Victoria Street Netherfield and before that Wollaton Road Community Centre in Gedling.

Philosophy

It is my belief that children develop the foundations for the rest of their lives in their early years, what better way for this to happen than in an environment that they love - dancing.

The dancing school follows the International Dance Teachers Association's syllabus which prepares pupils for examinations in Ballet, Tap and Modern Jazz dance, these are held twice yearly in December and July. Grades start at Preparatory through to Advanced and Teaching levels.

We also remember that attending dancing isn't all about exams and the children are encouraged to enjoy themselves and in doing so develop their own personalities and confidence in themselves through dance.

Each Christmas we hold a Presentation evening, where the children receive their examination certificates and trophies. This is followed by a party/disco.

Every other spring we present our Bi-annual Show at the Bonington Theatre in Arnold. All pupils are encouraged to participate as we see this as an ideal opportunity for parents to see what the children have learnt and to give them the experience of performing in front of an audience.

In addition, throughout the year, those children who show an interest are prepared and entered for the various Competitive Dance Festivals that the school patronise. Many children participate in these events and thoroughly enjoy taking part.
